Mental Health Australia Board Director Appointment
Mental Health Australia is governed by a Board of up to 10 Directors, ensuring strong leadership and effective governance. Directors are appointed through a structured process designed to balance member representation with the skills and experience needed to achieve our objectives.
There are two types of Directors on the Board:
- Elected Directors: Up to seven Directors are elected by the Voting Members of Mental Health Australia during the Annual General Meeting. Eligible members are invited to nominate, and Voting Members select the Directors through a formal election process. Those candidates who receive the highest number of votes are appointed to the Board.
- Board Appointed Directors: Up to three Directors are appointed directly by the Board. These appointments are made to ensure the Board has a diverse and appropriate mix of skills, knowledge, and experience. The Board identifies and appoints individuals based on specific needs or gaps in Board composition, following the guidelines set out in the Director Eligibility & Board Composition Policy, as referenced in Mental Health Australia’s Constitution.
This approach ensures that Mental Health Australia’s Board combines the perspectives of its members with the expertise required to guide the organisation effectively.
